Child Safety Standards
Last updated 23 October 2026
Attune is an app for adults in relationships. We do not allow children to use it, and we have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation of any kind. This page sets out our standards, how to report a concern, and what we do when we receive one.
The short version
- Attune is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to use it.
- We prohibit all child sexual abuse material and any sexualisation, grooming or exploitation of children.
- Report a concern to safety@barsopus.com, or with the report option on community posts. If a child is in danger, contact the police first.
- We remove abusive material, close the accounts involved, and report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.
01Our standard
Bars Opus, which makes Attune, prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every part of the app. This applies to everything on Attune: private chats, photos, videos and voice notes, stories, shared plans, games, and community posts. It applies to every user, without exception, and it overrides any other feature or setting.
When we find or are told about child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or the exploitation of a child on Attune, we act on it, and we report it to the authorities.
02Attune is for adults only
You must be 18 or older to use Attune, as our Terms of Use state. Attune is built for adult romantic relationships and includes content suited to adults only.
If we learn that someone under 18 is using Attune, we close the account and delete its data. If you believe a child is using Attune, please tell us at safety@barsopus.com.
03What is prohibited
On Attune you must never:
- Create, upload, share, request or link to child sexual abuse material, including drawn, animated or AI-generated material that sexualises a child.
- Sexualise a child in any way, including in messages, captions, game answers or community posts.
- Groom a child: build a relationship with a child, or with an adult around them, in order to abuse or exploit the child.
- Use Attune to find, contact or arrange to meet a child, or to pass on a child's details for that purpose.
- Threaten or coerce anyone with intimate images of a child (sextortion), or traffic or sell a child.
- Share content that praises, promotes or normalises the abuse of children.
- Let a child use your account, or create an account for a child.
These rules apply whether or not the content is shared only between two partners. Breaking them leads to the account being closed and the matter being reported.
04How Attune is designed
Attune's design limits the ways it could be used to reach or harm a child:
- No discovery. There are no public profiles, no search for other users, and no way to message a stranger. The private chat connects exactly two people, and only after one shares a personal invite code that expires within 7 days.
- Private media. Photos and videos are stored privately and opened only through links that expire within minutes. They cannot be browsed or found by anyone outside the chat.
- Community spaces are text. Posts in the community spaces are written text, and anyone can report a post. Reported posts can be hidden automatically while we review them.
- No dating features for anyone under 18. Attune's planned Dating mode is not available. Before it opens, it will require each person to verify that they are an adult.
05How to report a concern
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency number first.
Then, or for any other concern about a child on Attune:
- In the app: use the report option on any community post or comment.
- By email: write to safety@barsopus.com with as much as you can safely share — the account's username, what you saw, and when. Please do not send us images or videos of a child; describe them instead, and we will find them.
You do not need to be sure before you report. Every report is treated as confidential, and we never tell the person reported who made it.
06What we do when we receive a report
- We review reports about children as our first priority, as soon as we receive them.
- Because Attune is not end-to-end encrypted, we can examine the reported content directly when we need to investigate. Access is limited to the people handling the report, as our Privacy Policy describes.
- We remove the material, close the accounts involved and prevent them returning, and keep the evidence securely for as long as the law requires so it can be given to the authorities.
- We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, and to the law enforcement and child protection authorities of the country concerned, including in Ghana.
- We cooperate with law enforcement investigations into the exploitation of children, responding to valid legal requests promptly.
07The law we follow
We comply with the child safety laws that apply to Attune, including Ghana's Children's Act, 1998 (Act 560) and Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), and the laws of the other countries where Attune is available, along with the child safety policies of the Apple App Store and Google Play.
08Where else to get help
If you are worried about a child, these organisations can help:
- Anywhere: report child sexual abuse material online to NCMEC's CyberTipline, or find the hotline for your country through the INHOPE network.
- Ghana: the Cyber Security Authority (call or text 292), or the Ghana Police Service's Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).
- United States: the NCMEC CyberTipline, 1-800-843-5678.
- United Kingdom: the Internet Watch Foundation, or Childline on 0800 1111 for children and young people.
09Our child safety contact
Bars Opus has a designated child safety contact who is responsible for these standards and for handling reports, and who can speak to app stores and authorities about our practices. Reach them at safety@barsopus.com.
